What Is EOS
EOS (the Entrepreneurial Operating System) is a proven system of real-world tools that offers a very practical way to help business owners and leaders get more of what they want from their businesses.
Every business has 6 Key Components:
- Vision – A clear picture of where the organization is going and the plan to get there.
- People – Getting to the heart of what it means to have the right people in the right seats in THIS organization at THIS time.
- Data – Having the critical, objective numbers that show the pulse of the business.
- Issues – Getting all the stuff that’s getting in the way out of people’s heads and onto paper so they can work on the most important ones.
- Process – Being very consistent and systematic about how things are done, “the ABC Way.”
- Traction – Being very disciplined and accountable for great execution so the Vision becomes reality.
The EOS tools guide the organization on a journey to become strong in all 6 Key Components. When the organization is strong, the owners and leaders will really be getting what they want from the business.
The “sweet spot” for EOS is businesses that are $2-50MM revenue, 10-200 people, and have a leadership team that is growth oriented, open-minded, more afraid of the status quo than change, and is willing to do the hard work of being open and honest to become a new powerful, healthy team.
Implementing EOS
Jerry Kauffman is the EOS partner for Equity Catapult. He is passionate about small to medium-sized businesses, believing that these businesses are the heartbeat and lifeblood of creating a vibrant, healthy economy, particularly in more rural areas. He devotes himself to working with the leaders and leadership teams of SMBs to help them get better at three things: vision, traction and health.
- Vision – Getting leaders 100% on the same page with the vision for where the company is going and the plan to get there. A great vision unshared is just a dream.
- Traction – Instilling discipline and accountability for great execution toward that vision. Without great execution a great vision cannot become reality.
- Health – Helping the leaders become a healthy, cohesive, high-functioning team because this is often not the case. A group of strong leaders isn’t necessarily a strong team.
Jerry works first with the leadership teams in a series of EOS Session Days to get better at vision, traction and health. He helps them to learn and implement the EOS tools. When the LT is ready, the system is rolled out so that eventually every single member of the organization is crystal clear on the vision, is acting 100% in alignment to achieve the vision, and is moving forward as part of a truly healthy team.
